For many marketing specialists, writing sales letters can be difficult. In a few paragraphs, you need to sell not only a product or service, but the company as well. You need to convince the recipient that the company is in the best position, and has all the credentials to produce the best product or service to meet the needs of its prospective customers. If there seems to be no need for the product or service, you have to create the need for it. Moreover, you need to do all these to sell a product or service to a potentially saturated market that has little or no time to read sales letters.

JV the Costs – Whether it’s an office you share, or a receptionist, or an administrative assistant, or standby conference call lines, you can make deals with other businesses that may not need a full-time receptionist, for example, to keep the costs down. A local school supply business shares an office with a surveyor. A small downtown Hartford mail order firm shares office space and conference rooms with an advertising agency. A New York investment consulting firm shares the mailing address with a Florida realtor who is also licensed in New York and wants a local presence. Things like office and mail services, help desk support, and other shared services are becoming more common. If you can’t find one that makes sense for your business, why not invent your own solution?

Though all my customers know I make many different crafts, what I am known for, and consequently what I sell, is jewelry. In a week, jewelry making/selling takes 80% of my time. If I’m not at the craft room, coiling wire, then I am at the computer, promoting or writing. In many weeks, that 80% of time becomes 100%.

Network marketing is often tied to home based business ventures. Get rich quick. Find me two people and build an empire. Sounds familiar doesn’t it. Well the internet and infomercials have hit the media with a big bang. You cannot surf the channels without seeing at least one new venture promising a yacht and full release from corporate America. So let’s break it down to simple terms. A network is a group of things tied together in its simplest form. Phone lines all converging on a switch box become a phone system from which 100′s of calls go in and out of. Thus a network. Traditional direct sales organizations are made up of *typically* Vice President of Sales, Regional Sales Managers, District Sales Managers down to Account Sales Representatives.

The countdown to Christmas is now in weeks rather than months. Christmas decorations have appeared in the shops, the first murmurs of Christmas parties are in the air and I find myself approaching my first Christmas as a Soloist.
Recently I celebrated my 3rd Birthday is business – can you tell I love a good celebration?! However, for the first 2 years I ran my business part-time and worked 3 days a week in a corporate environment. This is a problem common to managers in every industry. Here are a few of the reasons.
Human beings, managers and otherwise, simply don’t like confrontation and all the things that go with firing involve confrontation. In fact, managing people is really the art of controlled confrontation. For that you need training in how to talk to people who work for you about their performance

Most people start into an MLM (Multi-level Marketing) or other Network Marketing company with huge thoughts of success. So what happens? Things aren’t going as well as planned; people just aren’t interested in the products or services that your company offers; you have talked to just about everyone you know and their tired of hearing about it. Then what? You throw your hands in the air and exclaim “this doesn’t work!” Maybe the person that enrolled you led you to believe that riches were just a mere days away. Maybe you thought the product or service was so phenomenal that people would have to be crazy not to join up with you. Maybe the compensation was so great that you thought everyone would just jump on board and it would avalanche into a fortune. It could be a combination of all of these.

When I ask my accountant, he tells me that Profit equals Revenue minus Costs. He then spoils this simple equation with two caveats:
Revenue is the cash flowing into your bank – this is sales without the bad debts, returns or shrinkage.
Costs include your materials, labour and energy bills as well as everything else needed for long-term trading such as your contingencies, investments, replacements, training, and insurances.
