What can they do, in advance of commitment, to improve their chances of selecting an effective program? A reasonable suggestion is that managers do not accept a program (whether an OD program or any other) but that they look closely at the component techniques of the proposed program to determine if experimental and experiential indications would substantially support their use.

Let’s face it without your own email marketing list you are leaving money on the table every single day. This article will cover some of the important points as far as email marketing is concerned. Let’s get started.
#1 Myth – I can email whoever I want whenever. That statement right there is far from the truth. If you want to send out your email to your clients or prospects they must first request for your information. There was I time when it wasn’t like that but due to the mad spammers sending all kind of unwanted email flooding your inbox the rules of marketing online with email have changed. If you do that these days expect a hefty fine and a court date.

Several years ago I worked at an ad agency in Birmingham that exclusively handled automobile advertising. You wouldn’t believe how much dealerships spend each month on advertising – sometimes up to $250,000 a month! This advertising money was spent on trying to find that elusive “new” customer – someone that had never bought from them before or hadn’t bought from them in a long time. Most businesses spend WAY too much money trying to find “new” customers.

What boosts direct mail response rates better than a
premium? Half a premium.
That’s what Canadian catalog printer
Transcontinental has learned during the past two
years. Transcontinental wanted to generate sales
leads among catalog companies across North
America. So, in 2005, the company mailed one
walkie-talkie to vice presidents of marketing at
business-to-business and
business-to-consumer catalog companies. Prospects
were invited to receive the other walkie-talkie free of
charge in
exchange for taking an online survey. The campaign
generated a 50 percent response rate.

Pressure washers are an instrumental tool for providing many needed services to folks everywhere. Just as a hammer or saw are tools for carpenters, a pressure washer is used as a tool by many companies that provide you different services everyday. Pressure washers are used by fleet washers and detail shops, by pool cleaners, to clean the kitchen exhaust hoods in your favorite restaurants, and to restore wood decks and fences. General contractors use pressure washers to clean new homes and buildings before turning them over to the new owner. Pressure washers are used to clean the exteriors and service areas of the buildings that you frequent every day. They are used to clean the carts at your favorite supermarket and painters use pressure washers to prepare surfaces prior to painting. New uses for this equipment are being discovered every day. While there are many companies that specialize in providing these pressure washing services, more and more contractors who don’t currently offer power washing are becoming aware of the many opportunities to provide pressure washing services as an “add-on”.

I must admit that being a newbie my first business promotion efforts ended up in frustration and loss of my scarce money. I had some idea of ad tracking programs, but at that time they seemed too complicated to install at my server or too expensive to pay for an on line ad tracking service. Nowadays, I can’t hardly imagine running a campaign without tracking my ads.

As storytelling is such a popular way of conveying business messages these days, this is the story of a catering manager who wants her/his Board to fund a “tasty” new kitchen, and we work through her/his exercise of writing up the proposals that will secure what s/he wants…

It’s a story you may have read. Perhaps it’s an urban-legend type of story, but it rings true. It came to me via a discussion list from the Philippines, but I suspect it has done a complete world tour, and you may have seen it. It has little to do with trade shows per say, but has lots to do with using technology in trade show promotion.

Performance and behaviour in many organisations are not managed well. The common missing ingredient in managing performance and behaviour is the absence of enforced standards.
We are confronted almost daily with stories of IT project overruns and outright failures, public service procedural errors with dire consequences to individuals or quality and service errors resulting in unhappy customers. We are also confronted with examples of poor behaviour from sports people struggling with fame to senior executives defrauding their staff or their shareholders.

During a January 1980 television interview, then British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher stated, “No one would remember the Good Samaritan if he’d only had good intentions. He had money as well”. Our current times make this keen observation particularly relevant. We continually are bombarded with facts and figures concerning fairness, income distribution, giving and sharing the wealth.

In order for a company to be successful, it needs to maximize the productivity of each employee. Most of today’s companies are realizing that teams are the key to helping each employee achieve their potential. There are certain work roles in which people tend to be naturally comfortable. These natural roles are defined as creator, generates ideas; advancer, communicates ideas; refiner, challenges ideas; executor, implements ideas; and there is also the role of flexor, someone who has strengths in all fields and is able to fill in as needed. Maximum productivity is easily achieved when there is a person to function in each of these work roles.
