Well, folks, as luck and ratings would have it, it’s time for yet another season of that train wreck of reality TV, American Idol; the show that attempts to separate the talented from the terrible and brings them all into your living room each week for you to enjoy. Your Propensity to Change – How Far Would You Go?

It is easy to dream about an exotic island. It takes a bit more to prepare a trip to this island and spend some time there. But the real challenge is to take your stuff and migrate to this little island.

It is said that people that migrate hold on to more conservative customs than in the country of origin. The explanation for this is that people who migrate carry their historic environment (customs, rituals and ideas of the country of origin) with them and conserve these carefully because they serve as beacons in the new country where the new emigrant could feel really lost. Perhaps that this myth is less an issue in this modern age where emigrants are in close contact with their home country (and customs) because of satellite television and internet.

Work Place Issues – Discussing Salary Requirements

When it comes to some of the most uncomfortable situations and discussions that arise in the workplace, mulling over the issue of your salary might be one of the most intimidating and stressful topics to deal with. Since the cost of living rises over time, it may be left to you to bring up the subject to your employer when a raise hasn’t been granted. At other times, you are just starting out in the work world or new job and need to negotiate the terms of your impending salary. The reason asking for a raise is a stressful and difficult task is because employees aren’t usually trained to handle this type of situation. Under these circumstances, there is a proper way to ask for more money and a right time to seize the opportunity. Business Cards for Entrepreneurs and Home Based Businesses – What’s All the Fuss?

I’m so tired of hearing all the hoopla about business cards as it relates to small, solo service professionals or home based businesses, and I just don’t buy it. You may know what I’m talking about – all the marketing advice about how to set them up, using them as marketing “real estate,” packing them with just the right kind of information to “catch” that next client. I think most of that advice is a bunch of garbage, because I don’t agree with the premise: that potential clients will accept or reject you on the basis of your business card.

8 Tips for Great E-Mail Etiquette

As a Virtual Assistant, I send and receive a large amount of e-mail on a daily basis. I can always tell when someone is either in a rush or simply doesn’t like to type. Their messages come through with misspelled words, with little regard for punctuation and grammar. What’s worse is when the tone or meaning of the message isn’t clear.

Build A Team – The Right Team (There is a Difference)

Creating the right team is imperative to your success. A team is comprised of people who can bring necessary skill sets to the venture. A team is different from partners. Partners are financially and legally tied to the venture while team members are brought in to create and continue the process. Team members can be employees or sub-contactors. These are people you can control – you get to pick them. You can use their services for as long as you like. If they don’t work out as planned, you can find a different team member or you can find a place on the team where this person can be more effective.

What Buyers Hate About Sellers

The more things change, the more it seems they don’t change.

Here’s a big sales tip. Most salespeople just don’t get it. Too many salespeople just talk to much.

One of the fatal flaws of professional selling is too little listening and too much talking.
